About RFR

Built on Experience. Focused on Delivery.

Construction is a demanding industry. Projects become delayed, businesses evolve, markets change and unexpected challenges arise. Successfully navigating those challenges requires more than technical knowledge—it requires practical experience, sound judgement and the confidence that only comes from having faced similar situations before.

RFR Construction & Development was established to provide exactly that.

Drawing upon more than 25 years of experience across the construction and property sectors, RFR provides practical leadership and commercially focused support to developers, contractors, housing associations, investors and business owners throughout the UK.

Unlike many advisory businesses, our experience has been gained from within the industry itself. Having operated across Tier 1 contractors, SME contractors, developers and contractor-developers, projects have been viewed from every perspective—leading operational teams, delivering complex developments, managing commercial risk and supporting business growth.

That experience provides a unique understanding of the challenges faced by clients because they have been experienced first-hand.

Projects have ranged from complex refurbishment and occupied buildings through to RC frame residential developments, PBSA, Build to Rent, healthcare, education, commercial, infrastructure and data centres, with individual project values exceeding £100 million and responsibility for managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Alongside project delivery, significant experience has been gained in operational leadership and business transformation, helping construction businesses strengthen operational performance, improve systems and reporting, recruit and develop teams, reduce founder dependency and create scalable platforms for sustainable growth.

Whether supporting a project that requires experienced construction leadership, helping recover a challenging scheme or advising a business through a period of growth and change, the approach remains the same:

Understand the challenge. Provide practical solutions. Deliver measurable results.

What Makes RFR Different?

Construction advice is most valuable when it comes from someone who has delivered projects, managed businesses and experienced the same challenges first-hand. RFR combines practical construction management, strategic leadership and commercial awareness to provide clients with clear, pragmatic advice that is shaped by experience rather than theory.Every recommendation is based on a simple principle:Advice shaped by experience, not theory

Proven results that speak for themselves.

Director Profile

Thank you for taking the time to visit RFR Construction & Development.

If you've found your way here, the chances are you're facing a challenge. Perhaps you're looking for experienced construction leadership, support delivering a complex project, an independent view before making an important decision, or simply someone who understands the pressures your business is facing.

Whatever the reason, welcome.

I established RFR because I believe there is real value in practical experience.

Over the past 25 years, I've learnt that the biggest challenges in construction are rarely technical. Projects don't usually fail because someone can't build. More often, they lose momentum through communication, planning, procurement, leadership or commercial decisions that gradually begin to affect delivery.

The same is true of construction businesses. Growth exposes weaknesses in systems, reporting and organisational structure. Businesses become overly dependent on key individuals, opportunities are missed and good people spend too much time solving problems that could have been prevented.

I've seen those challenges from every angle because I've experienced them myself.

Throughout my career I've worked within Tier 1 contractors, national developers, SME contractors, contractor-developers and consultancy environments. I've led projects exceeding £100 million in value, managed multidisciplinary teams, transformed business operations and supported organisations through periods of significant growth, change and recovery.

I've also learnt that every organisation has different priorities.

Developers are focused on programme certainty, value and return on investment.

Contractors are balancing delivery, commercial performance and client expectations.

Housing Associations are expected to deliver quality homes whilst managing budgets, compliance and stakeholder needs.

Investors and funders require confidence that projects are progressing safely, commercially and operationally.

Understanding those different perspectives allows me to bridge the gap between them and provide advice that is both practical and commercially realistic.

One of the greatest advantages I've gained throughout my career is having worked on both sides of the industry.

I've sat in contractor boardrooms discussing programme recovery, commercial pressures and operational performance. I've worked alongside developers seeking certainty around procurement, delivery and investment. I've supported business owners through periods of rapid growth and organisational change.

That breadth of experience means I don't simply understand construction—I understand the decisions that shape successful construction businesses and successful projects.

So, what does that mean for you?

It means you're working with someone who understands the realities of construction because I've lived them.

Someone who appreciates the pressures of delivering live projects whilst managing budgets, programmes, stakeholders and commercial expectations.

Someone who believes the best advice isn't found in lengthy reports or complicated presentations, but in practical solutions that can be implemented quickly and confidently.

Whether you're looking for construction management, project recovery, operational improvement or strategic business support, my approach remains exactly the same.

First, understand the challenge.

Then identify the root cause.

Finally, develop practical solutions that deliver measurable improvements.

No unnecessary complexity.

No generic advice.

Just straightforward support built around experience, collaboration and results.

Construction has introduced me to some exceptional people and organisations over the past 25 years, and every project has reinforced one simple belief.

Experience tells you what should happen. Practical experience tells you what actually does happen.

That philosophy sits at the heart of RFR Construction & Development.

If you're looking for an experienced partner who understands the realities of the construction industry and is committed to helping you deliver projects, solve problems and build stronger businesses, I'd welcome the opportunity to have a conversation.
